Crown Scholarships

The Minister of Education may each year award the following scholarships to senior high school graduates for study in any postsecondary institution:

2003 - 2004 Scholarships at a glance

Junior Jubilee Scholarship

One scholarship of $2,500 is awarded to the student who attains the highest mark for the province in the Scholarship Examination.

Constable W. C. Moss

One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to the son or daughter of an active, retired, or deceased member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who attains the highest mark in the Scholarship Examination. Applications for this scholarship should be made using the Application for Constable W. C. Moss Scholarship form available from the school at the time of general course registration by February 15th. Late applications will be accepted up until March 31st.

Electoral District Scholarships

Three scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to the three students in each of the forty-eight electoral districts who attain the highest marks in the Scholarship Examination for the respective electoral districts in which they reside during their graduating year.

Centenary of Responsible Government Scholarships

Fifty-five scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to the fifty-five students who attain the highest marks provincially in the Scholarship Examination.

The government of Newfoundland and Labrador offers the Atlantic Accord Electoral Entrance Scholarships which are based on the math and science portions of the scholarship exam. There are 48-$2,000 scholarships that will be awarded to the first eligible student in each district who attains the highest marks and attends a Newfoundland post-secondary institution that relates to offshore.   • Canadian Merit National Award
    • CMSF National Award ($4,000 + tuition)
    • CMSF Regional Award ($1,000)
    • CMSF/Jostens Provincial Award ($500)
    • Moorhead Award ($70,000 US + tuition)
  • Canadian Trust (renewable up to 4 years) ($3,500 + tuition)
  • Canada National Scholarships For Woman (58) ($500)
  • National Merit Scholarship Program
  • Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program (renewable) ($4,000)
  • National Union of Public and General Employees
    • Tommy Douglas Scholarship
  • Canadian Cambridge Scholarship (renewable)
  • Canadian Association of Principals Scholarship (20) ($500)

CANADIAN MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the Canadian Merit Scholarship (up to $64,000) are available in room 211 for grade 12 students who are interested

  • GB Byron March Scholarship ($100)

The Millenium Scholarship is an IMPORTANT ONE because there are scholarship funds available for thousands of students (last year $292 million to 89,000 individuals)

DEADLINE MARCH 31st ($1000)
- To support an individual pursuing a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities
- Must be enrolling within the next academic year
