At PWC animation is taught in several courses. In various guises animation is part of Art Technology 1201, Communication Technology 2104 and 3104 and Webmasters 3200.

In Communication Technology students learn animation using Macromedia Flash. To view some of their projects click here.

Webmasters students learn both Flash animation as well as how to create animated gifs for the web. Click here to view some of their work.

In Art Technologies students do a different type of animation. Not only do they learn how to create animated gifs, do morphing animations, this year for the second time students have completed claymations. To view claymations from three years ago click here. These claymations were completed in much the same way during the beginning stages but differed during the final stages. Whereas the previous claymations were ran through Paint Shop Pro and created animated gifs, this year students used a new piece of software called Stop Motion Pro to create animated .avi files. The sounds tracks were created separately. They then took these movies, loaded them into Adobe Premiere and added the sound tracks.

As part of this project two Art Technology classes worked together during the planning, implementation and creation of the claymation projects. Students at Mary Queen of Peace were contacted through their teacher, Mr. Bruce Lane and shown the examples of claymation. They were asked to email their comments. to students at PWC. We have included some of them here.

We hope to add to this collection of claymations in future years and learn and build from previous years work!
